Workplace Health and Safety Representative
Our Delegates need the support and assistance of other members in their workplaces if our union is to operate effectively. There are many ways you can become involved in the ASU at your workplace short of taking on the role of Delegate.
It varies from workplace to workplace, but opportunities for involvement might include: joining workplace committees, participating in meetings, volunteering to help delegates with distributing material and recruiting new members, and acting as a first point of contact for members.
In many larger workplaces Delegates may have a network of members representing different teams or work areas to assist them in communicating with members. We often refer to this role as 'union contact'; a sort of deputy-delegate.
If you are in a workplace with an ASU presence, talk to your Delegate or Organiser about becoming a union contact for your team or work area, or register your interest.
