Education and Training

The ASU offers a range of free training courses for members designed to give you the skills and knowledge to be an effective workplace representative.

In short, education and training is the foundation of union strength because it helps build confidence in our capacity to change things.

Union training courses and seminars are fun, informative and friendly. You can meet members from other workplaces, share experiences and learn new skills and new ways of involving your workmates in workplace issues.

Most awards and agreements allow time off for attending union training courses.

Tailored Training

Training sessions can also be organised onsite at your workplace!

ASU Assistant Secretary Mary-Anne O’Neill can tailor union training courses specifically to meet your needs, and can hold courses on or off site in your area. This is particularly useful for Delegates and members in areas outside of metropolitan Brisbane.

For greater flexibility, and to accommodate Delegates who may not be able to attend full-day courses, ASU Training Courses can be modified to suit shorter timeframes, allowing for half-day courses or for training lunches.

Also, course content can be modified to suit the needs of members or Delegates at your organisation. Contact Mary-Anne on 3252 8666 to discuss options, or speak to your Organiser!
