Who is the Australian Services Union?

16 May 2008

The Australian Services Union is one of the largest unions in Australia, with more than 140,000 members nation-wide and is run by members for members.

Our members work as PA’s, Clerks, Receptionists, Admin Officers, Call Centre Operators, Customer Service Officers, Reservation Agents, and Telemarketers (and any other Administrative role you can think of!).

No one else knows as much about the Admin and Clerical Industry, as the ASU.

Why should I join the ASU?

MEMBERSHIP gives you access to our highly skilled Organisers, who can give you advice on pay and conditions, health and safety issues, and support on discrimination, bullying and unfair dismissal matters.

Knowing your rights at work, and being part of an active union, is critical to safeguarding your working future!

In addition to providing members with industrial advice and assistance, ASU members are entitled to access a full range of membership services and discounts including:

  • Discounted travel and accommodation
  • Discounted theme park tickets
  • Discounted electrical appliances
  • Discounted computer and internet access
  • Free legal advice
  • Free will service
  • Discounted home loans
  • Discounted insurance
  • Discounted shopping
  • Discounted motor insurance
  • Free financial planning advice
  • Discounted private health cover

This list of services is not exhaustive, and new services are continually added for members. Become an ASU member and protect your rights at work.

If you have already signed an AWA

THE AWA must pass the "Fairness Test", if it doesn’t you may be entitled to back pay. So that you are fully aware of your entitlements, we can provide you with the accurate, professional advice you need.

You can also appoint the ASU as a bargaining agent to assist you in any discussions with your employer about your AWA. To find out about your entitlements contact your ASU Delegates:

  • Helen Ffrench
  • Nick Menchise
  • Leeann McLeod
  • Karen Richards
  • Carol Grilanc
  • Theresa Barnett
  • Shiannon Corcoran

Find out how to protect your rights at work, talk to your ASU Delegates or Organiser Lisa Jurd in the ASU Office on (07) 3252 8666.
